England Women vs Spain Women: prediction & betting odds 27 July 2025

The Women's Euro 2025 final between England and Spain will take place on July 27 at St. Jakob-Park in Basel. England vs. Spain: prediction and betting odds, Euro 2025 match statistics.

England Women's Team

The England team started the tournament with a 1-2 defeat to France but then confidently won the next two matches to advance to the playoffs. In the quarter-finals, the English showed character by coming back from a 0-2 deficit against Sweden, equalizing in three minutes, and eventually winning on penalties. In the semi-finals, the team saved themselves again by scoring in the last minute of regular time and snatching victory from Italy in extra time (2-1). Notably, England has kept a clean sheet in only one match throughout the tournament, but this did not prevent the reigning European champions from reaching the final once more.

Forward Alessia Russo and midfielder Ella Toone have each recorded four points in this tournament through goals and assists.

  • The team has not lost in regular time in 9 of their last 10 matches at the European Championships.

  • In 5 of England's last 6 Euro games, there has been an exchange of goals in regular time.

  • The team has conceded at least one goal in regular time in 5 of their last 6 official matches.

Predicted England Women's Lineup (4-3-3)

Hannah Hampton – Lucy Bronze, Leah Williamson, Esme Morgan, Alex Greenwood – Georgia Stanway, Keira Walsh, Ella Toone – Lauren James, Alessia Russo, Lauren Hemp.

Spain Women's Team

Tome Montserrat's side confidently passed the group stage, defeating all opponents by at least a two-goal margin. In the quarter-finals, the Spanish easily handled the tournament hosts – Switzerland (2-0). However, the semi-final was much tougher, decided by a single goal in extra time that gave Spain their first-ever victory over Germany (1-0). Additionally, Spain is the reigning World Cup champion, having defeated England in the final of that tournament (1-0). The upcoming European Championship final will be the team's first in history.

The tournament's top scorer is forward Esther Gonzalez with four goals. Additionally, midfielder Alexia Putellas has accumulated 7 points through goals and assists (3+4) at Euro 2025.

  • In 15 of their last 21 Euro games, Spain has not won by more than one goal in regular time.

  • The team has won in regular time in 8 of their last 9 official matches.

  • At least three goals have been scored in regular time in 8 of Spain's last 10 matches.

Predicted Spain Women's Lineup (4-3-3)

Cata Coll – Olga Carmona, Maria Mendes, Irene Paredes, Ona Batlle – Alexia Putellas, Patricia Guijarro, Aitana Bonmati – Mariona Caldentey, Claudia Pina, Esther Gonzalez.

Match Prediction: England Women vs. Spain Women

In official matches against England, Spain has not scored more than two goals in the last five encounters. Additionally, Spain has managed to score more than two goals only once in their four European Championship meetings. Meanwhile, England consistently avoids heavy defeats – the team has not conceded more than two goals in their last 11 Euro matches and in their last eight games across all competitions. Spain, on the other hand, has not scored more than two goals in 16 of their last 21 European Championship matches.

It is worth recalling the final of the last World Cup, where these teams met – Spain secured a narrow 1-0 victory. Considering the status of the upcoming match and the high stakes, an open game is not expected. Even if Spain takes the lead, they are unlikely to push for a larger advantage and will likely focus on controlling the game and maintaining their lead.

England Women — Spain Women betting tips 27 July 2025

This fixture is a rematch of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup final, where the same teams met. However, that result—a win for Spain—is not necessarily expected to repeat.

These squads showcase contrasting styles of play. England rely on pressing football, even if they don’t possess a significant physical edge. Their aggressive high press, often initiated just outside the opposition’s penalty area, has proven to be a key tactical weapon. While it didn’t lead to goals in their semi-final clash with Italy, it played a crucial role in shaping the match. Both goals in that game came from second-chance efforts: the first after a save rebound, and the second following a penalty rebound just one minute before the end of the second period of extra time.

By contrast, Spain leaned into their technical strengths in the semi-final against Germany. They held possession for two-thirds of the match and constructed sharp, attacking sequences. The most impressive saves from the Germany goalkeeper were in response to rapid Spanish moves. Claudia Pina stood out on the right wing, repeatedly breaking through the back line. The only goal of the match also came from the right side, courtesy of a moment of individual brilliance from Aitana Bonmatí, the current and two-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Cata Coll also played a vital role. Deep into stoppage time of the semi-final, the Spain goalkeeper showed excellent reflexes to deal with a difficult deflection and stop the follow-up effort. Her contribution could be pivotal in the final as Spain aim to lift the trophy. All three previous encounters between these sides have ended in narrow wins for Spain, including that World Cup final.
